Review of 2024

Categories: Personal

Happy Christmas eve everyone!

This year was a whirlwind of creativity and growth. I successfully completed 35 weddings, 39 makeovers, and 26 1-2-1 lessons - nearly 300 faces will have been made over before the end of the year!! I also had the privilege of working on an advert for Heaven Media, and working with the wonderful Megan Crook, for Get Crooked and Megan Crook Textiles.

The positive feedback and testimonials from clients are always incredibly motivating, and I treasure my reviews. I also focused on expanding my skill set by attending a MyKitCo masterclass earlier this month in Stockport, and got to see on hand from James Molloy new products and techniques for improving my makeup application! It was so good that I've already booked to go back next December!

I also did two in-person markets with Small Business Takeover with my MooDoodlesUK products. I was honoured to be asked by Robyn to do makeup for her signature collection photoshoot at the gorgeous Stubton Hall. I also took part in the Unconventional Wedding Fair at Nottingham University.

Personally I've had some great successes too; I've been to six Wrexham matches, and attended a charity dinner in aid of the Wrexham Miners Project. I've seen Daniel Sloss, James Acaster, Romesh Ranganathan, Sofie Hagen, Dawn French, Rachel Parris, Nish Kumar, Glenn Moore, Kiri Pritchard-McLean and Rhod Gilbert live in concert! I also got to go the Forest Ground for the first time ever in over 18 years of living here to see Take That live. I can't believe I've never been!

I've also never been to the Nottingham Open, but attended back in June and got to see Heather Watson, Katie Boulter, and Harriet Dart. I also went to see The Horne Section, and got to be on stage with Alex Horne for a game! They sang Chinese five spice and I won a jar as a consolation prize from them. I was lucky to have two lovely holidays with Niall too, in Woolacombe and Salou. We celebrated 10 years together in May!

While there were some challenges, such as being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and a family member dealing with cancer, I learned valuable lessons from these experiences. I need to step back and take control of my rest time, before my body decides when that time is! I also need to downsize my admin, so I'll be looking into customer management systems early in 2025.

For the coming year, I'd like to launch online makeup lessons. There are plenty of people out there who aren't able to get to Nottingham for an in-person lesson that would still love to learn from me, so I need to put myself out there! I'm excited to continue growing my business and sharing my passion for makeup artistry with my clients, so I hope to see you all in 2025 - all the best to you and yours for the festive period, and the coming year.

Thank you for all your support and love.
