Wedding Make Up Interview with: Amy

Categories: Wedding Make Up Interview
I met the lovely Amy in November 2021 when she was having a photoshoot with my lovely pal Tigz Rice. I wasn't doing the makeup, I was there just assisting Tigz but we got on great and had a good chinwag! We kept in touch on social media and when her and Jakob got engaged, she slid in my DMs to ask if I'd travel to Windsor to do her wedding makeup!

Amy and Jakob married in October 2023 in the chapel at Royal Holloway, University of London. Their reception was at the De Vere Beaumont Estate in Windsor, and as well as having me on makeup she had the lovely Sarah from Pin Up Curl for her hair!

When did you get engaged, and when did you get married? How long did it take to plan your wedding?
We got engaged on 15th July 2022 and married on 28th October 2022! I planned for about 14 months (although really I had been planning it for about 2 decades...)

What suppliers did you book first? Feel free to sing their praises!
I first found our photographer, the amazing Gabrielle McMillan Photography, before we even got engaged! She was one of the first suppliers we booked, along with our ceremony venue - the beautiful Victorian chapel at Royal Holloway, University of London. You have to be alumni to get married there, but it's so beautiful I'd suggest picking your uni choices based on it...

How did you find me to book me? e.g. Google, social media, recommendation etc.
I had already met you through the wonderful Tigz Rice!!!

Why did you book me? Did you consider doing your own makeup?
I considered doing my own makeup briefly, which would have been a disaster. I'm not entirely sure what I was thinking! I booked you as I already knew from meeting you before and from following you on Instagram that you were someone who would not stress me out on the morning of the wedding! I also love your makeup style and I like that your website is colourful!!! So many bridal makeup websites are soulless!!!

How did you find your trial makeup appointment with me?
It was great and really fun! Finding the perfect makeup look seemed super easy!

Would you have changed anything about your wedding makeup?
Definitely not!

Any advice for someone else getting married?
Don't feel pressure to follow the bridal trends - do what you want to do!

"Sali did my makeup for my wedding in October, alongside the makeup of my two bridesmaids! Our makeup looked amazing and lasted all day. I felt like the best version of myself, rather than looking like someone completely different.

Sali is a wonderful person to have around on the morning of your wedding. She is easy to get along with and is great to have a laugh with. She is also a calming presence when the panic sets in! She goes beyond doing makeup and also acts as a therapist, and a shoe doer-upper!

I also had a makeup lesson with Sali this weekend, which was so informative. I've learnt a lot and can't wait to try out my new skills."
