To lash or not to lash
Love them or hate them, lash extensions are here to stay. Thankfully it's totally a personal preference, but here's my tuppence worth of knowledge and opinion about having them for your wedding day...
- Don't have them for the first time just before your wedding. Have a trial run of them a few months (MONTHS, not weeks) before your wedding day and see how you get on with them.
- Find a really good technician who will give you advice on how to look after them and clean them. If you want them to last and look good for as long as possible, you have to follow set rules to the letter.
- If you've got small eyes, you're not going to want a big set of lashes coz it'll just cover up your eyelid where I've done all that pretty work and eyeshadow. Ask to see a range of styles and lengths to work out what you want.
- If you already have good eyelashes, you can have an LVL lash lift to curl and dye them! They will lift your natural lashes and give them a great shape to add mascara to. You CANNOT wear false eyelashes if you have these as the natural lash will curl back into the strip lash and be super uncomfortable. It's one or the other!
I'll always offer strip lashes for your wedding day, for you and anyone else who's makeup I'm doing. It's all included in the price you pay me, but it won't make my rates cheaper if you choose to have lashes. Your makeup application price will stay the same.
I only use vegan and cruelty-free eyelashes - you won't see any mink lashes here, or human hair lashes. This is a non-negotiable for me! I love the brands Ardell and Eylure, and use Demi-Wispies, Naturals or 3/4 lashes.
Alternatively if you don't want to wear any lashes, then that's just fine! I'll always offer to show you the ones I have because I only work with super natural looking ones. No Daisy the cow looking eyelashes - I want you to look like you still, but +10! You can always try a set at your trial, and see how you get on with them. There won't be any arm twisting here, but they will be comfortable and natural looking :)
